Paco De Lucia - En Vivo Conciertos Live In Spain 2010

Paco de Lucía nasce ad Algeciras, in provincia di Cadice Andalusia (Spagna) figlio di Lucía Gómez e Antonio Sánchez. Inizia a suonare la chitarra all'età di cinque anni spinto dal padre (anche lui chitarrista di flamenco) che teneva al fatto che i propri figli avessero una buona educazione musicale e dal fratello Ramon de Algeciras. Da allora in poi ha sempre frequentato ambienti dove si suonava quel genere musicale. Gli artisti che lo hanno ispirato e influenzato maggiormente furono: Niño Ricardo (Manuel Serrapí Sánchez), Miguel Borrull, Mario Escudero e Sabicas (Agustín Castellón Campos). All'età di soli 11 anni abbandona la scuola per dedicarsi completamente alla chitarra e si esibisce per la prima volta in pubblico, ospite di una radio locale (Radio Algecíras). Tre anni dopo insieme al fratello Pepe, forma il duetto Los Chiquitos de Algecíras che gli fa vincere addirittura un premio speciale della giuria.

Nel 1962 si trasferisce a Madrid con la famiglia e poi parte per gli Stati Uniti per il suo primo tour. Dopo il periodo dei primi concerti, nel 1965 avvia una serie di collaborazioni musicali con vari artisti: il fratello Ramon de Algeciras, Ricardo Modrego e A. Fernández Díaz Fosforito con il quale incide la Seleccion Antologica del Cante Flamenco. Nel 1966 parte di nuovo in tour e l'anno seguente incide il suo primo album da solista La fabulosa guitarra de Paco de Lucía.

Nel 1968 avviene l'incontro con Camarón de la Isla con il quale inciderà ben 12 album. In questi anni farà una lunga serie di concerti, arrivando persino a suonare al Teatro Real di Madrid, dove fino ad allora non si era mai esibito nessun chitarrista di flamenco. Il 1977 è un anno molto importante per Paco. Si sposa con Casilda Varela e nello stesso anno conoscerà alcuni personaggi molto importanti per la sua carriera artistica, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin, Larry Coryell e Carlos Santana. Quello degli anni settanta è un periodo molto fecondo per quanto riguarda le incisioni. Tra queste sono sicuramente da ricordare Fantasia Flamenca del 1969, Fuente y Caudal del 1973 (album che contiene il celebre pezzo Entre Dos Aguas) e Paco de Lucía interpreta a Manuel de Falla del 1978. Nel 1980 incide con John McLaughlin e Al Di Meola Friday Night in San Francisco un album che a tutt'oggi ha venduto più di cinque milioni di copie. Nel 1981 fonda il famoso Sestetto insieme ai fratelli, con il quale farà una serie di concerti in tutto il mondo e nel 1984 rilasceranno l'album Live... One Summer Night. Dal 1986 fino al 1991 tornerà alla carriera solista, per poi riprendere ad incidere un altro album con il sestetto (nel 1993). Nel 1996 si riunisce dopo 13 anni con John McLaughlin e Al Di Meola con i quali inciderà The Guitar Trio. Nel 1995 suona la chitarra in due canzoni di Al Bano e Romina Power: Un sasso nel cuore e Na na na. Nel 1998 incide l'album Luzia, dedicato alla madre, e per la prima volta possiamo sentire la sua voce (non aveva mai cantato nei precedenti album). Il successo di questo album lo porterà di nuovo in tour per tutto il mondo e recentemente anche in Italia. Nel 2004 gli viene conferito il Premio Príncipe de Asturias nell'Arte il 23 marzo 2007 l'Università di Cadice e l'8 maggio 2010 il Berklee College of Music di Boston gli conferiscono il titolo di Dottore Honoris Causa per il suo contributo musicale e culturale. Oggi grazie a casa Emarcy abbiamo l'opportunita' di ascoltare il sunto di tutta questa carriera grazie a questo doppio cd in cui, seguendo rigorosamente la scaletta del concerto, Paco apre in solitudine (in una straordinaria Minera) prima di introdurre anche gli altri membri del gruppo, fra i quali figura suo nipote Antonio Sanchez (chitarrista a sua volta) e un incredibile Antonio Serrano all’armonica a bocca. Un modo per ascoltare - in poltrona a casa propria - dalla prima all’ultima nota un eletrizzante concerto del più grande protagonista del flamenco contemporaneo. Ole, Paco!

Flamenco is often burdened by its own peculiar lovers, who always seem to be fond of its past days and remain stunned by the yearning idolatry of times they didn´t actually ever experience in first person. Yet too many “Jondo know-it -all-” were turning their gaze with disdain to avoid sacrilege while Flamenco has been giving us all unreached heights. It is time, flamenco pals, to share our good fortune and witness the best artist of all times, Paco de Lucia, let´s enjoy together his art. Some have been doing it for half a century already but… I would say: it´s never too late if the Sonata is worth it. Each guitarist has his peculiar world; Paco- the Prince of Flamenco harmony- has a whole universe on his own and has given us several musical worlds that enlightened our culture and encouraged planetary souls. In this country, the land of envious – it´s a saying –, to be Paco de Lucía and still be alive and kicking is more than worth it. How can we celebrate it? Live. Paco de Lucía has spent his lifetime on the road, on the air, with jet-lag on board. This way he kept safe from slander in great shape. He sings with a borrowed voice "Fly, I just want to fly; I just want to live on my own, with no regrets". Paco has never lost his habit of expanding and communicating the splendor of the poorest Andalusian message and he still is standing for it. This proves the good stuff happened to him on many stages around the globe backed up by his latter band. A rush, like an airplane free stream cutting the air, sometimes it takes our breath away , others leads us to relax flowing with the groove on & on. This is the most reliable Paco de Lucía, because it reflects his own life. Always playing and playing, flying from one end to the opposite shore. Flying with him, getting through different border controls stretching up boundaries, there is a superb team that is constantly ready to re-read his most recent works, plenty of “aging” house achievements. Almighty Paco de Lucia on the guitar, Duquende and David de Jacoba, always with their quejío soaring to heaven, as a resounding monumental echo, their bulería requiem for an irreparable unexpected loss: "Moraíto forever ". He will dance to its grooves wherever he shall be now. There is much pain and joy concentrated in these intense minutes, as in a full double album, a Hi-Fi response structured in two parts - one per each CD – that Paco de Lucía offers in his shows. It is a sheer wonder as the rain in Seville (Hollywood dixit). We also listen to his second guitar player, his debutant nephew Antonio Sánchez - what an art family. In exact synchrony the rhythm section marks the earth, proposing a calm see naturally pictured with the unique Israel Suárez, “Piraña” drums and Alain Pérez´s tasty fingered bass lines, occasionally joined by Antonio´s , “El Farru”, thoroughbred, prodigious and brave feet zapateo. Still we have to quote the keyboards layer and, above all, (how cool!) the astonishing jet booster Antonio Serrano´s harmonic, which deserves both ears and the tail - if we are allowed to use the bullfighting terminology - but also if not.
